While Solo Leveling: The Original one focused more on the "leveling" trope, Solo Leveling Ragnarok follows the same pattern except there's an overarching foe who's even more dangerous than the Monarchs, who already felt big or deity level.

After reading this new story, the universe of Solo Leveling got even bigger because it introduces the Itarim. While I do love a good story, it's honestly great to see that this new story is sticking to the roots even though it's written by a completely different author.
The power difference between Ragnarok and the original series' enemies is massive. The original story's threats are Monarchs such as Antares, Baran, and Sillad. However, now there are new contenders, and they are multiplanetary titans compared to the Monarchs. These are creator level entities on the scale of the Absolute Being, but just how powerful are these so called godly titans?
The Itarim Explained: Solo Leveling’s Most Powerful Beings Beyond Monarchs and Rulers

In the original Solo Leveling, there was one Absolute Being, well, at least that's what we were told. In actuality there are many such beings in this universe or multiverse, but he was presented as the single primordial god and creator of the entire universe. While this was good at the time, in order to expand the story you obviously need something as strong or even stronger.
This is when Solo Leveling: Ragnarok introduced many Absolute Beings. One quote which I thought sounded insane comes from the first chapter of Ragnarok. The other Absolute Beings stated, "A Power with no owner will belong to whoever can claim it first," referring to the death of the Absolute Being who was a comrade of sorts to these other Absolute Beings.
Ultimately, the Itarim, who are also known as the Outer Gods are a race of primordial beings who existed before time and space itself and are the true creators of the multiverse. The Absolute Being from the original Solo Leveling series is a member of the Itarim race. So basically, he is just one among many.

Earth Was Invaded by Many

While the story does not detail if many Itarim tried conquering Earth at once, there are certain details of this invasion that point towards multiple Itarim attacking. My simple reasoning behind this is the multiple waves that are sent. This is just fan theories though as the story isn't fleshed out, and I don't think it ever will be, because as the story goes on the focus changes to the angelic type beings put in the spotlight. Which could mean the author is focusing on one of the Itarims invasion even if there were many.
The Itarim sent countless Apostles, who are their loyal servants to conquer Earth and claim its unlimited mana. The first major wave came in the form of powerful Titans and Apostles who resembled angelic beings with blue wings in giant humanoid forms. However many other waves appeared as monsters and alien creatures. This is why it is speculated by fans that more than just one Itarim’s force invaded.
The Itarim think of Earths universe as a prize where the first one to overrun it, gets it. Because with so much power all they look for is more universes and more territory, and none are loyal to the next, so it’s a battle royale of sorts.
The One Shared Trait All Absolute Beings Have

Despite being all powerful, the Absolute Beings only wanted one thing, and that is entertainment. However, they get this entertainment through destroying their own creations. They achieved this by making the creations fight in battle and then being revived. This also came down to boredom.
During the original Solo Leveling story, this looked like a trait for the one Absolute Being who created the Rulers and Monarchs, but after Ragnarok it seems this mindset is spread out between all of them. They appear to be like spectators watching a TV show or a play, so it's only right they will fight for a new area of creation to add to their amusement.

The Most Powerful Beings Might Still be Canon

Ultimately, the Itarim are the most powerful beings in the Solo Leveling universe because they are an ancient race of creator deities who existed before time and space. Meaning they created the entire Solo Leveling universe. However, this puts even more emphasis on the original Solo Leveling. The original creator stated during an interview that Solo Leveling Ragnarok isn’t canon to the original story, however I think the overarching narrative is still canon (the Itarim who are outer absolute beings in a sense). He also stated that we can think of Ragnarok as a multiverse similar to Marvel. This actually makes sense because of the whole Itarim being the sole creators and with that in effect can also cause multiverses.
Editor's Thoughts
Solo Leveling Ragnarok expanded on the original Solo Leveling beautifully and it’s always good to have an even more powerful being or foe than the previous story. This adds more intense capturing of the story, not like Jinwoo has defeated that already which sets the story back to how powerful he’s gotten. The Itarim feels like the best scenario this story could’ve went and I really hope they are canon to the original storyline when the original one does continue.
