A New Anime Adapted From Fullmetal Alchemist's Creator Just got a release window!

Fullmetal Alchemist was one of those anime that only arrive maybe once in a generation. The series was short and concluded at it's peak. Although the fans reaction to the original 2003 anime was considered sad and disappointing, the remake titled "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" was a massive success, which brought closure to characters' arcs and storylines, although some people found it kind of bittersweet due to Edward losing his alchemy. In contrast to the ending of the original 2003 series which was more widely considered nonsensical by some fans due to its bleak themes and the fate of the characters. So with all that being said, we FINALLY have a new trailer and release year for a new anime that was created by the same creator of Fullmetal Alchemist.

On September 13, 2025, Square Enix, Aniplex, and Bones announced that Daemons of the Shadow Realm which is Hiromu Arakawa’s latest fantasy manga, will be adapted into an anime set for release in 2026! This collaboration will reunite three powerhouses one again! Square Enix who are a leading video game and entertainment company, Aniplex, who are a Sony Music Entertainment Japan subsidiary and finally Bones, who are Aniplex’s acclaimed animation studio. So having previously collaborated on hits like Fullmetal Alchemist, their partnership raises high expectations for this long awaited adaptation and with 2026 approaching, anticipation for what could be the next big anime continues to grow.

• Asa voiced by Yume Miyamoto (Rouge in Metallic Rouge)

• Dera voiced by Yuichi Nakamura (Gojo in JUJUTSU KAISENO)

The Series titled Daemons of the Shadow Realm which is an adaptation of a Japanese manga, created by The author of Fullmetal Alchemist, Hiromu Arakawa. The series follows a story of twin siblings, Yuru and Asa. These siblings are destined to command powerful Daemons which are supernatural beings on opposing forces. The twins were separated when they were young, they are unaware of their bond and now they will uncover their heritage while facing ancient and incredible threats. As they uncover their bond, they must master these entities’ unique powers to face ancient threats in a divided world.
