That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one anime that I could binge watch countless times over and over. From the world building to the power upgrades like going from slime to Demon slime. This show isn't just your ordinary isekai, its one of those shows that will still stand as one of the greatest being it even 50 years from now. The last time we even heard about a new season was back in September 2024 after the conclusion of season 3 and fans have been eagerly waiting an update for the series!

Luckily we do have a release date and not only that we also have major news for season 4 and it's something that has never been done for this series before.

The studio behind That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime announced a major project for season 4, which is a 5 cour season. That means season 4 could possibly have 60+ episodes! Season will also be airing in April 2026 starting with a 2 cour consecutive season, meaning season 4's first 2 cours will run for 6 months likely ending in October 2026. As of the date of this post no announcement has been made on how long the gap will be from the second cour to the third cour but if industry patters are anything to go on we could see the third cour in January 2027 but this is still speculation so take it with a grain of salt.

The Trailer (Video above) doesn't show us much, such as animation teasers or arc teasers, however it does showcase the release date and the confirmation of a 5 cour season.

What will season 4 be about?

Season 4 will carry on from where season 3 left off. Season 3 finished with Rimaru Tempest receiving a invitation from the council of the west. However, the new season wont exactly start off with Rimaru going to this council, instead we will see him scour the dungeon with Veldora, Ramiris and Milim using Pseudo souls or otherwise known as spiritual transference to possess specially created bodies or avatars by Rimaru to explore the dungeon that was build in season 3 under the coloseum. This wont be the majority of the arc but it buids up to the next big major arcs that will be adapted in this arc.

The Western Nations or Rosso Family arc:

This arc will likely be adapted in the first 2 cours and will focus on Rimaru making or establishing a human monster coexistence with other nations. Rimaru then goes to the council of the west where things will go in an interesting way and this arc will also focus on Hinata as she travels with Rimaru to this council meeting.

After the council of the west Rimaru will venture forth into the City of the forgotten dragon which is otherwise known as Dragon's village. This place serves as the capital of Milims domain which is located south of the Jura Forst. This place is holding Milims old friend dragon named Gai. (Season 2 speaks of this Dragon & is the reason Milim became a Demon Lord).

This arc is still part of the Rosso Family arc and will likely take place during the second cour of the season.

While we wait for the new season of Reincarnated as a slime, the new movie which is titled "Tears of the Azure sea" will be released early in Japan on February 27th 2026.

While it's not canon in the true sense, it will still feature some characters that will later make appearances in future seasons (speculation) The previous season showcased some characters from the movie, Scarlet Bond, such as Hiiro and Towa who were celebrating with Rimaru during the festival in the ending episodes of season 3, so it's likely any characters introduced in this movie will still be canon, but the movie WILL NOT follow the light novel nor manga.

What is this movie about

Tears of the Azure sea will follow Rimaru and friends vacation on a tropical island of sorts. They were invited by Elmesia who is the Elf empress and during their stay they are met by a mysterious woman named Yura who is another protagonist of the movie. The kingdom of Kaien which is an undercity kingdom of sorts is where this mysterious woman comes from. The people in Kaien worship a water dragon who is the guardian of this city however Yura the shrine maiden who is the mysterious woman who meets Rimaru at the vacation resort learns that someone is plotting to awaken the water Dragon to invade the surface world, this is when she seeks the help of Rimaru Tempest.

As of now there is only a release date for the Japan release, however if we follow market trends or movie release schedules from the scarlet bond film, there was roughly a 2 month gap, so we could possibly get this new movie sometime in April or May but this is purely speculation and it could even come as early as March just before the release of the new season.
