It's been years since we seen an episode of Dragon Ball: Super. The last episode that aired was on November 27, 2016. This episode was titled "Come Forth Shenron, Whose Wish Will Be Granted?" Even though we did get a new Dragon Ball series (Daima) and although it was good, and was canon to the story, It still wasn't what a lot of people were asking for. The majority wanted the carry on from the Super series. However, now finally we might just have that news as the staff quietly revealed some MAJOR news without announcing it.
Today on the X platform on the official account of @DbsHype, he posted that the official account of the anime on the X platform changed their name from DB_super2015 to DB-anime-info. This is BIG NEWS, because after all, that is an account specifically for Dragon Ball anime content. Given that they do promote Daima on this channel, it's very unlikely that they are referring to that because the Daima series was a limited series. Given that the previous handle specifically refers to the Super series, now it's showing "DB anime info" the chances are more likely than not, it's a new Dragon Ball Super season.
When can we get an announcement for season 2?
The sudden change to the handle on the X platform suggests there's 2 possibilities on when we can receive this announcement. The more likely one is there will be a random announcement most likely before 2026. This will likely come as a visual image or a teaser of some sort, however this is purely speculation till we get something official. The other possible date will likely be in March of next year during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 which is scheduled for April 18th to the 19th in 2026 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. This event is free to attend and is normally where they announce new games such as dragon ball Sparking ZERO. This is where Dragon Ball Daima also received major news, so it's very likely that we will see an announcement here, but the only thing that raises flags is the sudden change to their X handle which feels like an announcement is about to happen any day now.
All of this news when put together highly suggest a Dragon Ball Super comeback. There was also an interview with the Executive producer of daima which also suggests that the anime is continuing. In this interview he states “Did you enjoy watching Daima? Following this work, of course, we are currently working hard to move various things forward. The "Dragon Ball" series will continue from here on as well, so everyone, by all means, please keep looking forward to it.” The specific words that state "The "Dragon Ball" series will continue from here on as well" highly suggests that this part of his statement in pointing to a Season 2 of Dragon Ball super.
