Jujutsu Kaisen's New Sequel!

Jujutsu Kaisen's manga concluded in September of 2024 and left a lot of fans thirsty for more. Jujutsu kaisen has did a lot for the fandom since it was first released, the series was ranked the number 1 for several years in Japan and was even one of the best selling manga series of all time with over 100 million copies sold worldwide, although of course not as big as Dragon Ball or One Piece, however the series has forever left a mark on the community none the less, and with the series now at an end you can feel the emptiness in the community. So being just how big the series got, it will come to no surprise that the series will eventually have a sequel.

Jujutsu Kaisen new sequel announced!

The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, officially titled "Jujutsu Kaisen 3: Modulo" or also referred to as Mojuro has finally been released! This comes nearly a year after the original manga's conclusion, and this got the entire fandom talking. So on September 1, 2025, Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #40 revealed the project as a new short term manga, although when this announcement was teased at that time, there was no connection to Jujutsu Kaisen, although there was a lot of speculation. The new sequel was officially launched on September 8, 2025 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. This new sequel is written by Gege Akutami (the original author of Jujutsu Kaisen) and is Illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki.

A week later the full details on the sequel was announced when issue #41 hit the stands. The series will be approximately 6 month long and compiling into roughly 3 volume which is potentially over 30 chapters. It was also confirmed that Modulo is an official spin-off sequel set 68 years after the Culling Games arc.

What is Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo about?

The sequel is set 68 years after the Culling Games arc which expands the story to the year 2086, although this time there are extraterrestrial threats and cursed energy.

The series will follow Yukka and Tsurugi Okkotsu who are the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin ( from the original Jujutsu Kaisen) This new sequel follows siblings Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, caught in a rivalry over the Gojo Clan's decision to entrust a cursed ring from the family vault to Tsurugi, a cursed tool user with a Heavenly Restriction, instead of Yuka, who inherits Yuta’s sorcerous legacy.

So fans have been roaring for a sequel or prequel for one of the best manga's out there, Jujutsu Kaisen, as the conclusion of the manga left a lot to be desired such as unresolved mysteries like the true nature of Yuta Okkotsu survival and Rika's essence, also the Kenjaku's ultimate motive and Tengen's fat post the Culling Games arc. So this leaves siginicant gaps in the lore and I'm hoping this new sequel may address some of those issues. So given that the author is still passionate about this universe i doubt this sequel will be the last time we hear of Jujutsu Kaisen and hopefully we will see many more spin-offs or even a whole new main story set in the same universe which is entirely possible.
