Dragon ball super has always been at the front of peoples minds especially after the first season which aired from 5 July 2015 to 25 March 2018. Although Daima did take the spotlight recently, a lot of people still wanted dragon ball super which isn't an origin anime series like Daima, even though Daima was confirmed to be canon.
Major event announced
Today, on October 17, 2025, the studio announced a new festival called Dragon Ball genki Dama Festival that will be taking place on January 25, 2026 on Sunday at 9:00 to 18:30. This event will feature a stage event with Masako Nozawa, who is the original voice of Son Goku. This even will likely showcase a new anime, and most fans are speculating this is a sequel to the dragon ball super series. This news comes almost a full day after the official X account for dragon ball super anime changed their X handle from DB_super2015 to now currently DB_ anime_ info. This is very likely a teaser that we will be getting anime news very soon, and hopefully it is before this major event that's taking place in January.
What will happen in Season 2
If we had to see a dragon ball super season 2, it will likely carry on from where the first season left off. The first season which ran for 131 episodes, ended on the Tournament of power arc, and season 2 will almost definitely continue where the first season left off. This would include the arcs for Moro and Granolah.
Will a Season 2 return in a seasonal format
While the Daima series was seasonal, for example it only had 20 episode, this series is still considered a limited series and is the outlier when it comes to seasonal anime from Toei animation (animation studio for DB Super, One Piece, Daima) Given the history of the series and Toei animation, if we see a Dragon Ball super season 2, it will likely span over months similar to that of the first season.
