The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 has Been Confirmed!

The rising of the shield hero is one of those series that at this point you can binge. The series so far consists of a massive 61 episodes on Crunchyroll! The first season was a success, however the second didn't do as well, but the third is where things start going back to it's roots.
The series is well known for its unique take on the isekai world, where heroes are summoned, but instead of the melee class being the strongest, this time the defence class is the strongest ,particularly "the shield". The fourth season which aired from July 9 to September 24, 2025 on Crunchyroll can be considered a moderate success overall. It gathered strong initial buzz and viewership among the fans which did lead to an immediate announcement following the conclusion of the last episode of season 4 which is titled "Return of the Emperor" on Crunchyroll.
Today of September 24, 2025, it was announced that season 5 is confirmed, along with this we also got a new Trailer and visual image (Image below). The Trailer sets up the plot for the new season and is only about 30 seconds in length which is the standard time for confirmation trailers. The Visual image on the other hand is pretty bland but not in a bad way, it showcases a flame with what looks like a dragon or phoenix at the top, showcasing the number 5 at the bottom, which is obviously the confirmation of the 5th season.
Other than this info, we didn't get any other news for the anime, However we did get some news on another project they have been working on. Shield Hero fans will also have a game coming to PC and mobile globally to look forward to. Although current details for this info is also unfortunately scarce but we did get a teaser visual with Raphtalia shown below.
The Rising of the Shield Hero follows a protagonist by the name of Naofumi Iwatani, who is a college student summoned to a fantasy world as the Shield Hero! He is one of four Cardinal Heroes who are tasked with stopping the catastrophic Waves threatening the realm. Soon after entering this new world he was betrayed early on by Princess Malty, he was falsely accused and shunned for his defensive shield. After becoming a bitter outcast he builds a loyal party, starting with Raphtalia who is a demi-human slave who becomes his trusted sword, and Filo, who is a shape-shifting filolial. Together they take on the catastrophic waves and during so, the world comes to see who he really is.
