The Fall season of anime has already kicked of strong, with returning shows such as Let this Grieving soul Retire to new one like Digimon Beatbreak. This season has undoubtedly been good, especially for the Isekai and Fantasy genre. Although, we also have some let downs such as One punch man season 3, but to keep this post positive, i won't go into that.
One of the best anime me for me this season is "A Wild Last Boss Appeared" This Isekai Fantasy adaptation is based on a Japanese light novel series which features dark fantasy and obviously action! The story follow a male player who awakens in the body of an OP female MMO avatar named Lufas Maphaahl and if you like Overlord you will love this series!
A Wild Last Boss Appeared! - Review

The story starts off on a strong note, with the game avatar being killed by the heroes. As soon as you watch the first 1 minute of the series, you can tell that the animation is exactly how a modern anime should look like and it doesn't feel generic like a lot of isekai now days. This series feels exactly like Overlord, and by the time the first episode ended I was hungry for more. This story explores themes of power, legacy and mystery. Think of it as overlord and The eminence in shadow combined, and what makes this one even more exiting and a breath of fresh air honestly, is that the main protagonist isn't a guy that everyone falls in-love with. Although, don't get me wrong, a good slice of life isekai fantasy is always a watch, but lately the whole harem/ fan service feels over saturated in anime especially in the isekai genre.
And talking about the isekai genre, I've noticed how the animation quality has dropped recently, most likely to get more episodes out and at sooner date, however this series feels perfect. For example when Lufas Maphaahl or Sfalu (undercover alias) gets in contact with Aries who is one of the seven heroes and a male magical beast. When these two fight you can see the amount of effort the studio put it. This scene could've easily been done in 2 seconds because of how OP the main protagonist is, but instead, this fight scene lasts a good couple of minutes, showcasing the strength of the character. And after the battle was won, If you can even call that a battle when it was so one side, haha. When Aries acknowledges that this OP person is not faking being he's real master after being defeated, he turns into a girl. It sounds odd, but after watching the episode it feels like it was the right move for the author to write the story that way. Anyway, the beast now takes the form of a girl, but the quality looks like a modern high school anime, where the studio completely goes all out with the animation specifically on the character (character image above), and for me this is the way you suppose to animate a series!
So i have not delved deeper into the manga and the light novel but from what i can see, moving that direction when the season is complete will be a MUST. Anime rarely tend to do this to me, the last anime that I watched that made me want to go deeper was probably Wistoria wand and sword. Although this is still early on in the season and ofcourse things can still change, I'm giving this one a solid 8.5 out of 10! This series can be watched on Crunchyroll.
