That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the most complete anime, and what do I mean by that? Well first of all, similar to all anime, there is a main protagonist who is for the most part overpowered! However, Tensura goes deeper than that. Not only do we see the power of Rimuru grow as the story deepens, but we also see an empire grow with him.
From a small goblin village to a massive country all thanks to that one time a normal salaryman got reincarnated into probably one of the most interesting anime worlds.
So with basically an entire country, what good is it without an army? In this article we will break down all of that. Rimuru Tempest isn't only known for his modernised country, but also for his strong subordinates and allies, such as Diablo, who if it wasn't for, Rimuru's army wouldn't have been so powerful.
All Rimuru Tempest's Army Explained:
Rimuru's army is led by elite units commanded by legendary subordinates such as the flame-wielding supreme commander Benimaru, the demonic powerhouse Diablo, and Rimuru’s most loyal warrior Shion. In this article, we’ll break down the army’s complete evolution, covering every major unit and force Rimuru has built from the very beginning of the story.
Ranga's Pack (Dire Wolf Pack)
This small but powerful army consists of the surviving members of the original direwolf pack at the start of the story when Rimuru defeats the pack leader. This pack became Rimuru's VERY LOYAL shadow-based cavalry and scouting force. He often stores them in his stomach, and some serve as mounts for the units that will be listed further on.
The leader of this pack is the Tempest Star Wolf Ranga; after all, they are an extension of himself, as he mentioned earlier in the series due to his deep shared bond with the other wolves.

Kurenai / Crimson Army
This force, which is also known as the Crimson Flame group, is Benimaru's elite personal guard. They are 300 strong with highly powerful ogres and honestly, it's one of the more powerful armies Rimuru has under his command.
This group consists of A-rank warriors and even some over A-rank, those are Kijin. It doesnt specifically state in the series how this group came together, but there are a mix of orgre and Kijin and honestly look insanely cool.
This group has trained under Hakurou's brutal hellish training regimen as most of the stongest units in the story, making them the most dependable unit that is superior with the sword, magic resistance, and they have fiery abilities which are tied to their "crimson theme" as the title suggests.
Yomigaeri
This is Shion's personal elite guard. This group consists of those who were originally killed during the Falmuth invasion massacre but were revived when Rimuru awakened as a True Demon Lord. This has to be one of my favorite groups because they arrived at major plots in the story. For example, they were killed during that Falmuth raid which marks a big plot in the story, and during the battle with Hinata when they took centre stage against the Holy Knights.
This group has extreme regeneration as we seen during the battle with Hinata, which allows them to fight relentlessly without any fear of death. They number around 100 to 200 strong.
First Corps
This unit consists of about 100 A-ranks formed from paired hobgoblins and Tempest Star Wolves, meaning wolves as the mount. This is the mobile cavalry and assault division. They specialize in fast strikes, flanking, and scouting.
This group is under the direct command of the one and only "GOD GOBTA" haha. Hakurou serves as the tactical adviser for this unit and trainer.
Second Corps
The Second Corps is one of the main military units of the Jura Tempest Federation and it actually serves as the largest and primary defence force. It is directly commanded by Geld, who is the evolved son of the former Orc Lord.
This unit involves two units of the same army:
Yellow Number: Around 2,000 strong. Consists of high-ranked fighters capable of uniting into a defence shield.
Orange Number: These are lower-ranking and total 35,000 members.
Third Corps
The Third Corps is directly commanded by Gabiru. This unit focuses on aerial combat and air raids. This unit also provides air support for the ground troops.
This unit consists of Dragonewts and wyvern riders, all totalling around 3,100 members. This is a small but highly agile and powerful unit.
Black Numbers / Black Corps
This is my personal favorite army in the entire story "the Black Numbers". They are personally my most favorite and are the most elite unit of the Jura-Tempest Federation. They serve directly under Rimuru as his personal guard and special forces, led by Diablo.
This group consists of approximately 711 high-ranking daemons summoned from the underworld. Under Diablo, there are three other Primordials, Testarossa, Ultima, and Carrera. Each of them command their own force within the unit. The three of them each command 100 loyal followers (along with Diablo's own subordinates).
These demons inhabit artificial bodies created by Rimuru, granting them immense power that is often A-rank or higher, with many evolving further. This makes the Black Numbers arguably the most strongest force in the entire army.
Dungeon / Labyrinth Forces
This unit refers to the powerful monsters and bosses inside the 100-floor Dungeon, which obviously includes Veldora as the final boss. We see the start of this Dungeon during the last half of season 3. It now consists of specialized groups like undead hordes under Adalmann and giant insects led by Apito.
The strongest members of this unit are collectively called the Ten Dungeon Marvels who are also known as the Ten Labyrinth Lords or Underground Labyrinth Top 10, which include Kumara, Zegion, Beretta, Adalmann, Apito, Albert, Gadra, and the Four Great Dragon Lords on floors 96 to 99 such as Boreas, Notos, Zephyrus, and finally Euros.
Other Notable Elites / Special Attachments
Souei’s Shadow Squad: intelligence unit of assassins and ninjas.
Rigurd’s Goblin/Hobgoblin Administration & Reserves: community oversight and general troops.
Editor's Thoughts
Making this list I am again reminded of just how wonderful the Tensura world is. The light novel is also by far the most interesting read, you guys can check it out here! I really do recommend reading that, it adds an extra layer we don't see in the anime. There's also the manga which is insanely popular as well.
This series hits a spot that no other anime tends to do, it's probably the world building. This makes so much room for expanded lore such as this spin-off about the more slice of life aspect. This series is truly one that has everything! Even though the light novel has finished, it still has plenty of years of anime adaptation and side stories left! — Dean
