That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Release Date Revealed!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the more popular isekai series out there, for me it's number one. It's been a long time since we've seen any new content if you live outside of Japan, because the new movie: Tears of the Azure Sea released in Japanese theatres on February 27, 2026. However, we did get a release date for worldwide, unfortunately that will only take place after the airing of season 4.

This new season will continue to dominate the isekai scene, and fans as well as myself are holding onto our seats with excitement as Season 4 approaches. After a year's wait for fresh anime content outside Japan, especially following the recent movie release in theatres, Rimuru Tempest and the nation of Tempest in one of the most wonderful universes out there is set to return with even bigger stakes, new alliances, and epic battles.

This new season will dive deeper into the ever-expanding world of Tensura and deliver the high-stakes action, political intrigue, and heartfelt moments that made the series a standout favorite. Get ready because the next chapter is almost here!

New Trailer and Release Date

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 - Official Trailer

On March 3, 2026 the studio released a new trailer showcasing the release date set for April 3 2026. Season 4 is set to stream exclusively on Crunchyroll for the next 6 months (if no delays).

Previously it was also announced that Season 4 will be getting a 5 cour season, that means roughly 56 episodes. However they won't be running consecutively, rather season 4 will have 2 consecutive cours at release with the rest of the cours following a break between (likely cour 2 and 4 will be consecutive).

Some of the cast for season 4 include:

  • Miho Okasaki as Rimuru Tempest (the protagonist slime/Demon Lord)

  • Tomoaki Maeno as Veldora Tempest (the Storm Dragon)

  • Takahiro Sakurai as Diablo

  • Rina Hidaka as Milim Nava

  • Sayaka Senbongi as Shuna

  • Mao Ichimichi as Shion

  • Makoto Furukawa as Benimaru

  • Chikahiro Kobayashi as Ranga

  • Anzu Haruno as Ramiris

  • Takuya Eguchi (Souei)

  • Animation Studio: Studio Eight Bit

  • Naokatsu Tsuda (known for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure TV series) — this is a new director

  • Assistant Director: Kenji Yasuda (previously directed Somali and the Forest Spirit).

  • Supervisor: Atsushi Nakayama (who directed Seasons 2 and 3, providing continuity).

  • Sound Director: Jin Aketagawa (returning staple)

  • chief animation directors: Masayori Komine and Hideki

Studio eightbit will be handling the animation again, with our favorite VA, Miho Okasaki returning as Rimuru.

Trailer Teasers Major Plots

This trailer teases a lot about which arcs this cour will adapt. In the trailer we see Mariabell Rosso, which could mean this arc will adapt to the end of the Mariabell Rosso arc as she attempts to use the Chaos Dragon to trap Rimuru. This is a lot to adapt in a 12-episode cour, however it's entirely possible. This cour will also be very political as we see at the end of season 2, Rimuru receives an invitation to the council of the west. This should take up about 3 or 4 episodes before entering the under city arc with the Chaos Dragon.

The very first parts of Season 4 will adapt the dungeon Labyrinth arc. This follows the festival as Rimuru, Veldora, and Ramiris enter the newly built 100 floor dungeon using fake bodies, which are avatar like forms to adventure in the dungeon. They explore the floors and monsters. This is more of a slice-of-life dungeon crawl as opposed to a big stakes battle. The image above shows their new forms with Veldora taking on a skeleton form, Ramiris the big berserker, and Rimuru the wizard slime avatar. These avatars will be very important later on in the story.

Editor's Thoughts

While Season 3 had mixed feelings because of the many episodes of pure dialogue and world building, Season 4 will have less of that, but it wont be entirely gone like the first and second seasons. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is developing in the story where world building is the focus.

More political figures are now getting involved especially with the Rosso family and the big dogs such as the Council of the West entering the fray. But I have no doubt the studio will pull off an outstanding season. Me personally I had no problem with Season 3, quite the opposite really. I thought the world building gave us something that many other anime don't give. It feels like an alternative to Game of Thrones for example, where the focus is on the world itself instead of a few key characters. — Dean
